Niresh,

1 day leave absences do not require a medical certificate as stated in my contract, provided I have stated that I am on leave for medical reasons.

Thanks

Hi Kyle,

Usually that is the case, as per your contract. However please note that leave during these occasions is only granted for genuine medical reasons. You line manager has determined that your leave was not due to medical reasons and as such we cannot grant leave on this occasion

Hi Niresh,

My leave was due to medical reasons, so you cannot deny leave based on a line manager’s discretion, with no proof, please process leave as requested.

Thanks

Facebook has officially drops “IS”

December 14th, 2007 | Category: Facebook, Uncategorized

Thats right people. Log in and change your status now. There have been many groups popping up in Facebook recently campaigning to get rid of the mandatory “is” in the status field. Well, they have won. No more linguistic gymnastics are required to articulate your current condition. This opens up a world of new avenues. Instead of “Andrew is”, it can be “Andrew feels sick” or “Andrew wonders why”. I personally think Facebook is trying to appease its users after the beacon advertising fiasco. What do you think? Is it a good move?

Is Facebook Dropping The “IS” In Status Updates?

November 21st, 2007 | Category: Facebook

IS2.jpgYesterday afternoon on the train home, I got this tweet mentioning that Facebook has dropped the “IS” from their status update box. I was amazed. I knew that there were 500+ groups on Facebook that are campaigning for the IS to be dropped, however, I really didn’t think Facebook overlords would cave in. According to Allfacebook.com and Wired it seems that they have - effective immediately, even though I cannot see any changes on the profiles page yet.

Simon Goudie who uses Twitter actually managed to update his status “IS” free, as pictured above. Whether it was a beta test operating at the time or a bug that allowed Simon to update his status is undetermined, yet he managed to do it. Alas, almost two hours later, it appeared that Facebook had changed its mind and was putting the “IS” back in.

The buzz throughout Twitter is mostly favourable. Tweets are coming though in support of it such as Apurva, Mcnutty, craigchilds, and shade_chr.

Dropping the “IS” from Facebook status will allow users a new angle on telling the world what they are up to. Updating it such as “Andrew feels good” or “Andrew loves the rain” adds a more personal and emotive touch to the updates, don’t you think?

Do you update your status often? Are you able to update it without the “IS”? Do you think this is a good move on Facebook’s behalf?
