Google street view cameras spotted in Sydney, Australia. Is Melbourne next?

According to this report by the Sydney Morning Herald, a Google street view camera has been spotted in Sydney.The article, in my opinion, also implies that Google will be venturing to other major capital cities in Australia, thus Melbourne.

From now on, I’m going to be aware of the cars that are passing me whilst I stand in the CBD - at a pedestrian crossing or walking down the main drag of Kensington. If, by happenstance I do encounter a car similar to this one (insets from Google Street view US), I reckon the there are a few different courses of action to undertake.

If I’m coherent and quick thinking enough, I’ll do try to do the world’s best star-jump, or maybe - if I’ve had a few beers, rip my shirt off and fall to my knees with arms outstretched skyward. Of course you could always portray the exhibitionist style by flashing or mooning the camera. What ever you do, try to make it memorable. That’s all I’m saying. I mean really, c’mon, the chances of you to see one drive by is, at best, slim. Or is it?

Either way, I look forward to trolling through Google Street View Sydney or Google Street View Melbourne to spot awkward situations of people who don’t know they are being recorded in the middle of a car accident, an assault or a drug deal.

If you were to notice the Google Street View camera attached to the roof of a blue hatch back approaching, what would you do? Would you hide behind the nearest pylon? Or have you a signature pose you would strike? In the off chance of it occurring to you, what would you do?

Raena, a very cool, personable and likeable twitterer (who I randomly met IRL on at train near Nth Melbourne), mentioned her coworkers have spotted the Google camera car in Melbourne. Any one else?
